1355-57 U Street Condos

New condos on DC's U Street Planned

1355-57 U Street will be a boutique mixed-use project located at 14th and U Streets in the U Street Corridor neighborhood of Washington DC. Developers have had trouble getting their ANC-recommended design past the HPRB (Historic Preservation Review Board), but HPRB has left the door open for approval if certain changes are made. Starting with Bonstra Haresign's 4 story plus penthouse design to the latest 7 story plus penthouse revision by Antunovich Associates, the project just doesn't seem to have enough footprint space to make Board memebers happy. Current plans include three floors of retail use and 33 residential condo units. A variance would be needed for parking and 2-3 IZ units will be required. The biggest issue seems to be design compatibility with surrounding buildings. Let's see what creative solutions the architect comes up with next.
